Global warming is expected to have an important influence on the damage to the ozone layer.
In the area of the Arctic Ocean, north pole, damage to the atmosphere had become sosevere. More recently, in a report published in the journal Nature, the researchers found ahole in the ozone layer covering 2 million square kilometers.
Of the ozone hole is approximately equal to the ozone hole that has occurred in the southpolar region. As at the north pole, the destruction of the layer is potentially dangerousultaviolet radiation present in the northern hemisphere countries such as Canada, Russia, and European countries.
In its report, the researchers found that about 80 percent of the damaged ozone layer is located at 20 kilometers above the Arctic ocean. The reason is the prolonged winter that occurred last winter.
"December to April and cold conditions continuously. Conditions like this has everhappened before in the north pole, "said Michelle Santee, researchers from NASA's JetPropulsion Laboratory, as quoted from Nature, October 17, 2011. "It takes years of research to find out why this could happen," he said.
